Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan helps reveal the functioning of your internal system. A radioactive drug is used by this PET scan imaging to show the cancerous cells in the body. The scan sometimes detects disease before it shows up on any other test.

A PET Scan can be for 2 to 3 hours. This will consist of the time needed for the injected tracer to be distributed in the body, waiting time for the injected tracer to traverse through the body, time spent moving through the scanner and post scan wait time for safety. The length and breadth of the body determine the exact period of the exam.
1 · Injection
The patient receives an injection of FDG, which contains sugar water and a radioactive tracer.
2 · Quiet rest
The patient lies down for 30 to 90 minutes while the FDG travels through the body.
3 · CT scan
The patient is assisted to the scanner and a CT scan is done, holding their breath for a few seconds.
4 · PET scan
The PET scan follows straight after, in the same appointment.
5 · Report
Reports reach your phone by the end of the same day.
After the completion of the PET Scan, you will get the reports to your phone by end of the day. You can collect the hard copy in the centre along with the CD for the scan.
